The church leaders are meeting twice a week to share information and distribute aid. All the refugees are being welcomed and treated free of charge at the clinic. We spent $3,000.00 on antibiotics here and sent them in a duffle bag and they have bought supplies in the Dominican Republic and Cap Haitien. They know they are just at the beginning of this crisis in terms of what the displaced people who have arrived with nothing will need.
One great thing the Jerusalem Baptist Church did for the town with some of the aid money was to repair the generator that runs the town water pump and buy fuel for it. That is an example of the lack of infrastructure that you are hearing about. Something breaks and it just doesn’t get fixed. Because of this repair, all the public taps where people gather clean water are flowing again for the first time in a long time. That is a great blessing to all the people.
Much more will follow!
